New buses for South Auckland
Congratulations to Ritchies and Auckland Transport on the launch of 46 new fully-electric buses to service South Auckland communities.
Electric Autobus is proud to supply these clean, quiet vehicles to join our 158 buses already in service with Auckland Transport supporting communities on Auckland roads.
We are also proud to be working with Zenobē who supply bus charging.
We look forward to supporting those buses, and the 126 buses arriving next year, from our new nationwide support base near Auckland Airport opening in 2026.
Powering the Auckland’s Western Express (WX1)
The Western Express (WX1) service - operated by Tranzurban Auckland (part of New Zealand, family owned transport and tourism company Tranzit Group) for Auckland Transport - uses our fully electric double-deckers to provide a vital link into the centre of Auckland, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and private vehicles on the busy Northwestern motorway.
Servicing communities in West Auckland, this route is extremely popular with commuters – the WX1 route has more than doubled its expected patronage over the last year and has carried Aucklanders on more than two million journeys since its launch.

Palmerston North – powering New Zealand's first fully electric city fleet
In a first for New Zealand, Palmerston North has fully electrified its public transport fleet, with 42 Tranzit Coachlines operated buses servicing the city. These buses have a range of 350km - making them perfectly suited for all-day use, while providing a cleaner, quieter commute for communities.
